Coursework Stage 2 Planning

Stage 2 Planning

I have created a plan for my magazine using this table.
Proposal Form

Describe your idea for the brief:
I will create a magazine that focuses on the pop-punk, rock and punk genre. It will include an interview from a band of one of those genres and other content relevant to the chosen genres. The magazine will include a detailed contents page with images and cover lines designed to engage the target audience. The magazine will have images of the band that will be interviewed and also other musicians.
Genre/ sub genre: list similar texts which have inspired your thoughts
The genres will be pop-punk, rock and punk. Magazines like Kerrang!, Rock Sound and NME influenced my choice of magazine style as they contain information about bands of my chosen genre and similar content that I’d like to be featured in my magazine. I will also be using similar colours as the colour scheme featured in these magazines so there’ll be no outstanding colours

Target audience: gender/ age/ characteristics/ behaviour
My target audience will be for both genders of any age over 16 due to use of profanity. The target audience will be people with an interest in these genres of music and want to know more about the general lives of the musicians.
Major conventions I will use
In my magazine I will use a masthead so people will know what magazine they’re reading. Coverlines and subheadings to show the content of the magazine. Essential data, for collectors and selling purposes and a main image to highlight the main feature of the magazine.
Conventions I may subvert/ change/ not use
I may use a bubble if there’s too many coverlines if I still have information to put on the page. I may end up not using as many coverlines to avoid the page looking too busy. I will not use too much text so my magazine will not bore my target audience
Original images: what/ where/ what
I will be taking images of my friend’s band to put on my front cover/double page spread. They will be taken at my friend’s house and at the venue that they will be playing at. I will take images of them while they’re playing and also more casual images
Potential difficulties/ Plan B:
The difficulties I will face will be mostly when it comes to gathering the images as it will be difficult to get images of the band while they’re performing live as people could get in the way and the lighting might not be very good.
